Angelica Ross Claims Emma Roberts Intentionally Misgendered Her While Filming ‘American Horror Story: 1984’: “I Didn’t Speak To That B*tch The Entire Time After That”
Emma Roberts allegedly made a dig at Angelica Ross, who claimed that she was intentionally misgendered by the actress while they were filming American Horror Story: 1984.
On a recent Instagram Live, Ross — who is also a vocal transgender rights activist, in addition to her showbiz creds — recalled a playful conversation that took a turn for the worse when Roberts made a dig at her gender.
“[Roberts] goes, ‘John. Angelica’s being mean.’ I know she’s not being for real, for real,” Ross recalled. “She’s just being whatever. And John is like, ‘OK, ladies. That’s enough. Let’s get back to work.’”
She he didn’t specify who “John” was in the clip, which was reposted to DiscussingFilm’s X (formerly known as Twitter) page. AHS: 1984 also starred John Carroll Lynch; John J. Gray has also worked as a producer on multiple seasons of the show.
Ross continued, “And she then looks at me. She goes, ‘Don’t you mean lady,” then demonstrated how Roberts had allegedly turned around dramatically, covered her mouth and walked away. According to Ross, she didn’t report the situation out of fear of retaliation.
“My blood is boiling. Boiling. Because I’m like, ‘If I say something, it’s gonna be me that’s the problem,’” Ross said. “I know this because there was someone that spoke up about what she was doing and they got repercussions from it. Not her. They did. So when I saw that happening, I was just like, ‘I’m done.’”
Angelica Ross says that Emma Roberts misgendered her and created an unwelcome working environment on the set of ‘AMERICAN HORROR STORY: 1984’.

Despite continuing to work on scenes together, Ross revealed that she cut off all communication with the Holidate star after the incident.
“I didn’t speak to that bitch the entire time after that,” she said. “We had scenes together and I never spoke to her. She said to me she could feel the energy coming off of me. She was like, ‘Are you OK? You haven’t been talking.’”
Ross continued, “I’m like, ‘Mhm. Because bitch don’t play me. You’ve been playing mind games with everybody on this set and everybody’s been waiting for the moment that you will get me.’”
The Pose star’s revelation comes on the heels of her claim that American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy ghosted her after reaching out with his plans to create a new season of the horror anthology series with a cast led by Black women. She shared several emails she allegedly sent to Murphy on social media, with the final one going to his inbox in February 2022. However, she claimed she never received a response.
“After not hearing back,” she captioned a screenshot of her final email. “After sending flowers and no response I sent one last email in Feb 2022 (it took about a year to film season 10 due to COVID) while still contractually in first position with the show. Mind you, Marvel had called twice now. I haven’t heard from him since.”
Decider has reached out to reps for Roberts and Murphy, but did not hear back by the time of publication.
