Apple Music’s Take On Spotify Wrapped Is Here: How To See Your 2022 Replay

Apple Music Replay takes a new form in 2022, providing users with sharable highlight reel cards that are reminiscent of Spotify Wrapped.

Apple Music Replay, the streaming service’s year-in-review feature, is now available for 2022 with new features including a highlight reel that appears to be quite similar to Spotify Wrapped. Though Apple and Spotify’s streaming services differ in a lot of areas — and largely operate independently of each other — Spotify has managed to influence a variety of other streaming services with the success of Spotify Wrapped. The feature shows a user’s top spot in different categories, like song and artist, with shareable cards that go viral each year on social media.

Other streaming companies craving to get in on the action have released their own versions, too. Apple’s offering is centered around its “Replay Mix,” which is a playlist of a user’s top hundred songs streamed in a calendar year. This playlist is continuously evolving, with automatic updates going into effect each week. As such, Apple Music users were already able to access their 2022 Replay Mix before the official release of Apple Music Replay 2022. However, by the time Apple Music Replay’s year-in-review features are rolled out — usually near the first week of December — there’s enough data to accurately represent a user’s music tastes throughout the year.

Apple Music Replay has been around for a few years now, but the entire experience is redesigned for 2022. While the stats are usually compiled in a mobile-friendly webpage, this year there are new cards that resemble those found in Spotify Wrapped. When users first navigate to the Apple Music Replay website, they’ll be greeted with an all-new highlight reel of their streaming stats over the past year, but with a twist. While tapping through cards displaying a user’s streaming stats, clips from their top streamed songs play in the background. On mobile, these cards can be shared on social media with friends.

How To View All Your Streaming Stats For 2022

After tapping through the highlight reel — or skipping it by tapping ‘Your Complete Replay‘ — users will be able to see all the details of their year in music streaming. The first category shown is songs, and Apple Music Replay will tell users exactly how many different songs they listened to in 2022. They can scroll through their top songs, and click on the song’s album art to start playing that song straight from Replay 2022. The top ten entries in each category are listed, but users can see their top 100 songs by navigating to their Replay Mix ’22.

Underneath the song’s title, Apple Music Replay shows the number of times a user has played each song. Next, Apple Music Replay notes the total number of artists a user listened to in 2022, with their top ten artists to follow. In the past, top artists were measured by the total number of hours that were spent listening to each artist. This year, it’s measured in minutes. It doesn’t make a practical difference, but it’s important to know when comparing this year’s results to prior years.

The last two categories are albums and playlists, which follow the same format as the above categories. At the bottom of the page, users can tap ‘Open in Apple Music’ to view their full Replay Mix ’22. The redesigned version of Apple Music Replay is now live, and it’s more similar to Spotify Wrapped than ever before.
