Tech giant Apple’s sales in India reportedly hit a record high $9 Bn in the financial year 2024-25, marking a 13% increase from $8 Bn from the previous fiscal year.

iPhones drove a majority of Apple’s sales in India, while demand for MacBooks also increased, Bloomberg reported.

It is pertinent to mention that Apple doesn’t provide country-specific sales numbers in its quarterly earnings report and call.

Inc42 has reached out to Apple India for comments on the development. The story will be updated on receiving a response.

India is the second largest market for smartphones and third largest for personal computers and tablets in the world. Apple competes with the likes of Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, among others, in the price-sensitive market. However, the company has been seeing steady growth in India.

Most recently, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that India delivered record revenue in the April-June quarter of 2025, on the back of double-digit gains across iPhones, Macs and services.

With an aim to further boost the demand of its products and provide better customer experience, Apple is also expanding its retail stores in India. Earlier this week, the company opened new flagship stores in Bengaluru and Pune.

“We are thrilled to continue to bring the best of Apple to customers across India at these two new stores,” Cook said in a post on X yesterday.

Over the next few months, the company plans to open two more stores in Mumbai and Noida, taking its store count to six.

Apple’s Big Production Bet On India

Besides being an important market, India has emerged as a key manufacturing hub for the Cupertino-based company. The company has been steadily increasing its production in the country.

Amid the ongoing tensions between the US and China, Apple is planning to shift its entire assembly of iPhones sold in the US to India by 2026.

Its iPhone suppliers in India have reportedly crossed the 20% domestic value addition (DVA) mark across variants, as of June this year. The company was also said to be in talks with Murugappa Group and Titan to source iPhone’s camera modules. It has also begun the production of its latest iPhone 17 in the country.

Overall, the company’s exports of iPhones from India rose 76% and stood at INR 1.50 Lakh Cr (free on board value) in FY25.
