North Dakota State 6, Omaha 3
OMAHA, Neb. — The North Dakota State Bison held on to defeat the Omaha Mavericks on Thursday evening in Summit League Play.
The Bison jumped to 6-0 lead through 7-1/2 innings before Omaha scratched three in the bottom of the inning. Colten Becker and Alex Urlaub both had two hits and RBI for NDSU.
Starter Nolan Johnson struck out 10 and allowed one hit in seven scoreless innings to earn the win.
Omaha’s Drew Borner doubled. Cameron Teinert took the loss on the mound, allowing five earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts in 3-1/3 innings of relief.
NDSU improved 9-16 and 7-2 in the Summit.
Concordia drops two at Bethel
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — Bethel took a pair of games from Concordia in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Friday at Hargis Park.
Bethel won the first game 3-1 and capped the sweep with an 11-5 victory in game two.
In the first game, Bethel pitcher Jackson Hunter went all seven innings, allowing a run on three hits.
Concordia’s Caiden Kjelstrom and Luke Knudsen both doubled and Isaac Henkemeyer-Howe had an RBI.
In the second game, Bethel led 5-3 after five innings but the Royal scored six runs over the next three innings to pull away.
The Cobbers’ Thomas Horan was 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI, Henkemeyer-Howe had two hits, including a double, and an RBI, Luke Knudsen was 2-for-4.
The Cobbers are 0-4 in the MIAC, 8-10 overall, and they play next at home against Crown at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8. A Saturday, April 5, doubleheader against Hamline was postponed to April 10 in Moorhead.
Gustavus sweeps Concordia
ST. PETER, Minn. — Concordia lost twice to Gustavus in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Friday at the Gustie Softball Field.
Gustavus won the two games 2-0 and 8-5.
In the first game, Gustavus’ Ava Hamsund threw a seven-inning five-hitter, walking three and striking out five.
The Cobbers’ Danielle Lyon was 2-for-3 and Emma Bowman doubled. Bayleigh Frye took the loss, allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings. She walked two and struck out five.
In the second game, Gustavus led 8-2 in the seventh. The Cobbers scored three runs in the seventh but the rally ran out of steam.
Concordia’s Brooklyn Hofer was 3-for-4 with a double, and Charlotte Bertram was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Kailee Falconer, Reese Hauck and Cate Kehoe all had a hit and an RBI.
Concordia is 0-2 in the MIAC and 12-6 overall. The Cobbers play at St. Benedict at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8. A home doubleheader against Macalester on Saturday, April 5, was postponed to April 10.
FARGO — Fargo scored five goals in the third period in a win over Tri-City on Friday before 4,116 at Scheels Arena.
The Force and Storm were tied 1-1 through two periods but Eero Butella and Jordan Ronn scored in the first 3:40 of the third to give the Force a 3-1 lead. Matt Lahey scored two empty net goals in a two-minute span and Luke Schelter added an unassisted empty-netter with 18 seconds to play.
Merril Steenari scored the Force’s first goal in the first period. Fargo goalie Alan Lendak stopped 22 of 24 shots.
The Force and Storm play again at 6:05 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Scheels Arena.
Fargo Davies 10, Sioux Falls O’Gorman 1 (F/5 inn.)
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Fargo Davies Eagles plated seven runs in the fifth-inning to power a victory over Sioux Falls O’Gorman on Friday afternoon.
Davies’ Ashton Rinas knocked a two-run triple in the fifth and finished with three RBI. Gus Werreremeyer finished 1-for-2 and drove in two runs. Cayden Neuharth worked three innings on the mound and struck out five to earn the win.
O’Gorman’s Sully Schlimgen was 2-for-3. Jackson Bjorkman gave up two runs on three hits with three strikeouts in three innings in the loss.
The Eagles improved to 1-0 overall.
Brandon Valley 9, Fargo South 8
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Trailing by one heading into the final frame, Brandon Valley scored two runs capped by a walk-off balk in the seventh inning to outlast Fargo South.
South’s Matt Bryant hit an RBI triple in the second inning and finished 3-for-4. Tate Barnacle went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk. Starter Colby Ebeling awarded four runs on five hits and struck out three in the loss.
Brandon Valley’s Grady Gindorff hit 2-for-2 with two RBI and two walks. J Blomgren was 3-for-4. Reliever Will VanLeur worked 5-⅓ innings, granting three runs on two hits with nine strikeouts.
South rose to 1-0 overall.
West Fargo Sheyenne 15, Hillsboro/CV 3
JAMESTOWN — West Fargo Sheyenne banged out 17 hits in a victory over Hillsboro/Central Valley on Friday at the Nelson Family Bubble.
Olivia Hendrix led the Mustangs going 3-for-5 with three runs batted in. Madison Aadland was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and Lauren Hemberger had two hits and two RBI. Presely Tveter, who doubled, Alivia Warren and Meredith Solberg all had two hits and an RBI.
Tveter went all seven innings to get the win. She allowed two earned runs on seven hits, she walked one and struck out eight.
Jamestown 15, West Fargo Sheyenne 5
JAMESTOWN — Jamestown took full advantage of six West Fargo Sheyenne errors in a win over the Mustangs on Friday at the Nelson Family Bubble.
Sheyenne’s Mya Migler had a hit and two RBI, Olivia Hendrix had a hit and an RBI and Meredith Solberg drove in a run.
Sheyenne is 1-1 overall.
