Ariana Grande Plays Older Woman in New Short Film
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Ariana Grande is offering fans a glimpse into the future — and it’s a little more wrinkled than expected.
The 31-year-old singer took to Instagram on Friday, March 28, looking nearly unrecognizable, to share a teaser for her upcoming short film Brighter Days Ahead, a companion piece to her Eternal Sunshine Deluxe album.
In the video, which was captioned, “brighter days ahead, the short film ♡ out now,” Grande sported a drastic transformation, using prosthetics to play an older version of her character, Peaches. With wrinkled skin, gray hair, and a cozy beige knit sweater, she certainly looked the part of an elderly Peaches as she sat in a waiting room. “Is there a Peaches here?” a voice can be heard asking off screen, which then said, “We’re ready for you.” The video then cut to text which read, “out now.”

Fans were introduced to Peaches in the 2024 music video for “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)”, where Grande portrayed a heartbroken younger version of the character, inspired by the 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Now, fans are getting to meet a much older version of the character, eagerly awaiting what’s next for her.
It’s safe to say the teaser quickly sparked an emotional response from fans, who instantly blew up the comments.
“Your artistic vision and ability to tell stories through your music and visuals is next level!” one fan said, while another admitted, “i’m in tears that was so so beautiful .”
A third fan commented, “Brilliant mind, beautiful film I’m not okay .”
“All the emotions!” stated a fourth.
Fans can watch the full Brighter Days Ahead short film on Grande’s YouTube channel, and listen to the Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead album on streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.
