International consulting firm ASCELA has been awarded the mandate to support the Africa Logistics Zone Development Project at the Port Autonome de Cotonou in Benin.

The Africa Logistics Zone, a joint venture between the Port Autonome de Cotonou (PAC) and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges International (PoABI), aims to establish Cotonou as a premier logistics hub for West Africa.

Thanks to its strategic coastal location and access to major regional trade corridors, the Port of Cotonou has become a critical conduit for goods moving to and from landlocked countries such as Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali. The Africa Logistics Zone aims to expand its position and impact in the region.

The Port of Antwerp-Bruges International will play an important role in this ambition. The Belgian group has been a partner of the Port Authority of Cotonou since 2018, and since then, the Benin-based port has already achieved notable results in several areas. This has seen the Port Authority of Cotonou rank among the fastest-improving ports worldwide in the Global Container Port Performance Index from S&P and the World Bank.

The Africa Logistics Zone is more than an infrastructure project; it’s a vision to unlock West Africa’s potential as a regional trade powerhouse. Our team is committed to developing a resilient, efficient, and future-ready logistics ecosystem that supports long-term growth for Benin and the region.”
