Ascension Episcopal announces Jay Domengeaux as new head football coach – Crescent City Sports

We are pleased to announce that Ascension’s own Coach Jay Domengeaux has accepted our offer to lead our football program as the newly appointed head coach— effective immediately. He is in his ninth year as a Blue Gator, and he has served a pivotal role on both our football and baseball coaching staffs.

After graduating from SLU with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology, Coach Domengeaux began his 30-year teaching/coaching career in high schools across South Louisiana. Before joining Blue Gator Nation in 2016, he spent 17 years at Lafayette High School serving as head baseball coach then as head football coach. Prior to LHS, he served as head/assistant coach at Franklinton High School and Albany High School. Coach Domengeaux will continue to serve as an assistant coach for Blue Gator Baseball; he will remain on the upper school faculty as well.

Having played baseball at the collegiate level, Coach Domengeaux knows the importance of building a culture that is committed to hard work and team chemistry. He says, “Consistency in our program is a good thing; we have operated that way for a long time and will continue to do so.”
