Country singer-songwriter Ashley Cooke chatted about her new music, touring with Kane Brown, and 2025 ACM nomination for “New Female Artist of the Year.”
Her single “your place” hit No. 1 on country radio, and she is in the process of writing and recording new music for her next project.
“Life has gotten crazy lately, but it’s all good,” she admitted.
Touring with Kane Brown
Cooke is thrilled to be out on the road touring with country superstar Kane Brown.
“I love this tour with Kane so much,” she exclaimed. “Kane is such a good person, and he deserves all the success that he has been having. He has worked so hard all these years.”
“I even brought my dog with me on this tour. He’s a little Goldendoodle, and Kane’s daughters are obsessed with my dog, which is like a teddy bear to them,” she noted.
“During my song ‘it’s been a year’ on this tour, everyone in the arena lights up their phones’ flashlights and that is a very cool and full experience,” she said.
2025 ACM Nomination for ‘New Female Artist’
At this year’s ACM Awards, Cooke is nominated for “New Female Artist of the Year.” “That nod is so cool,” she exclaimed.
“I’ve been nominated two years in a row now, and that’s so cool, especially because it is peer-voted. There is something about this community of music saying ‘we think we believe in you’ and ‘we think you’re next’, and that is all you can ask for because they are the hard ones to impress,” she elaborated.
“So, for my peers in the industry to vote me as one of the ‘top five females’ that are coming up in the country music industry is really cool and so special,” she added.
New track
She spoke about her new track “the f word (from the date).” “Everybody seems to really love that song, so I am very proud of it,” she said. “I feel that it’s a cool first song to come out of the gate with, especially going into this new second album era.”
“When they first sent it to me, I thought it had a jarring title, but I love things like that,” she said. “So, I was proud of it, and I am so glad that the fans like it too.”
Music and songwriting inspirations
On her music and songwriting inspirations, she said, “I am genuinely inspired by real experiences that I go through. ‘the f word (from the date)’ is an actual story that I went through in an actual situation with an ex-boyfriend of mine.”
“For me, it’s about finding ways to put the experiences that I’ve actually gone through into a unique way of saying it that inspires me,” she added.
‘All I Forgot’ duet with Joe Jonas
On her “All I Forgot” duet with Joe Jonas, Cooke said, “That was so much fun. That was the first song that I put out this year,” she said. “That was so cool. It felt like a bit of a departure from what I’ve done in the past, in a good way.”
“It like like a dabble in the pop world, which I have been obsessed with since I was a kid,” she added.
‘Between You & Me’ duet with Roman Alexander
She reflected on her “Between You & Me” duet with Roman Alexander. “I love that song,” she exclaimed. “That is a great duet.”
Dream duet choices in music
Cooke listed Ed Sheeran and Hilary Duff as her dream duet choices in music. “My top duet choice is Ed Sheeran by far,” she admitted. “Also, I love Hilary Duff so much; I cover her songs all the time.”
“Hilary was my first concert I ever went to; she inspired me so much and I think that she is so cool,” Cooke added.
Career-defining moments
On her career-defining moments, she said, “Honestly, the times that I was told ‘no’ helped define me. Adversity truly makes us stronger. Those moments — more than anything — set me up to understand what it means to win.”
“I am a person of faith and I just keep praying,” she acknowledged.
Stage of her life
On the title of the current chapter of her life, she revealed, “Organized Chaos.”
“I’m cohesively all over the place, in a controlled way,” she admitted. “There are days where I am beyond happy and other times, where I am beyond sad. This ‘Organized Chaos’ is very fun.”
Superpower of choice
Her superpower of choice would be to fly. “I would love to fly. That would be so cool,” she admitted.
Hobbies and interests
In her spare, she enjoys fitness, beauty, fashion, reality TV, and is a dog mom.
Success
Regarding her definition of the word success, Cooke said, “I am still trying to discover what that means to me. For a lot of my career, success has been a numeric value such as followers, ticket sales. merch counts and gold records.”
“Now, I feel the most successful is when I have great people around me doing the things that I love,” she acknowledged.
Closing thoughts on her new music
For her fans and supporters, Cooke remarked, “I hope this new music gives the fans an insider glimpse into my life. I hope it gives them a peak behind the curtain of what my life has been like, and I hope they find themselves in this music. I hope I get them, and I hope they get me in return.”
