Ashley Williams and Alison Sweeney Star in New Movies Set in Barcelona

LOS ANGELES, CA — Ashley Williams and Alison Sweeney are premiering two movies, “To Barcelona, With Love” and “To Barcelona, Forever,” on the Hallmark Channel this month. The films, set in Spain, will debut on June 7 and June 14, respectively.

In “To Barcelona, With Love,” Sweeney plays Erica, an American expat living in Barcelona who translates novels into Spanish. Meanwhile, Williams portrays Anna, the author of a book that becomes popular due to Erica’s translation. Their friendship grows as Anna visits Barcelona for a book signing, leading Erica to confront her secret adjustments to the translation.

“Working with my dear friend in such a magical place was incredible,” Williams said. “We hugged a lot and shared many laughs. It was simply the best!”

Meanwhile, “To Barcelona, Forever,” takes place five months later, with the two characters exploring outside Barcelona, where a misunderstanding leads to an unexpected romance for one of them.

Both actresses shared their excitement about the filmmaking experience in Spain. “Filming in Spain was truly magical,” said Sweeney. “I am so grateful to have director Ron Oliver lead the charge. It was fun every day.”

The crew, a mix of locals and familiar faces, worked alongside Sweeney and Williams, navigating the unique challenges of shooting in a foreign country. Sweeney noted, “There was so much enthusiasm from the crew, and that excitement positively affected the entire team.”

In their roles, Williams and Sweeney also dealt with logistical issues, shooting both films simultaneously. “We had to manage both movies at the same time, which added to the excitement and intensity,” Sweeney explained.

The movies promise to deliver traditional Hallmark charm, complete with heartfelt connections and personal growth amidst romantic shenanigans. Williams emphasized the importance of friendship throughout the storylines, which resonate with audiences.

“To Barcelona, With Love” premieres on June 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, followed by “To Barcelona, Forever” on June 14 at the same time, both on Hallmark Channel.
