Asics opens largest flagship store in India

Sportswear giant Asics has launched its largest Indian flagship store at the heart of New Delhi’s Connaught Place, striving to chart further growth in the domestic market.

The 2800sqft carpeted store combines an evolving collection of performance running, core performance sport, SportStyle and apparel categories.

According to the company, this extensive space is dedicated to going beyond performance offerings by blending SportStyle and athleisure in a way that caters to a wider range of customers – from elite runners to lifestyle and fitness-conscious consumers.

“India’s footwear market is on a strong growth trajectory, projected to expand at a CAGR of 12.2 per cent,” said Rajat Khurana, MD of Asics India and South Asia.

Numerous wall displays and category zones are embedded in the layout, which reflects Asics’ effort to push through boundaries of innovation alongside facilitating product discovery and navigation.

The opening not only sheds light on Asics’ continuous investments in designated zoning, full-line assortments and experience-led formats, but also reinforces the brand’s expansion plan to reach 200 locations by next year, including its first company-owned outlet later this year.

“With the launch of our largest flagship store in Connaught Place, we are strengthening Asics’ physical footprint and creating a vibrant space that brings together community, creativity and high-performance innovation,” Khurana added.

Due to the country’s tighter import rules, Asics in June revealed its plan to ramp up India manufacturing to 40 per cent over the next few years to ensure a steady supply.
