Assess your strengths to prepare for a successful career, students told

The rise of a globalised economy aided by digital connectivity has opened up many opportunities for employment and higher education that need to be properly utilised by the younger generation, Justice R. Mahadevan, Judge, Supreme Court, said on Saturday.
Addressing the sixth convocation ceremony of Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) on Saturday, Justice Mahadevan said, “The Indian economy has become more open in the past two decades, and globalisation is gathering momentum. Digital connectivity, which is the essence of globalisation, has already led to vast flow of information, ideas, technologies, capital and people between nation states. Job opportunities in the legal field and higher education possibilities, have increased. In order to make use of these opportunities, students should nurture their potentialities.”
Advising graduates to analyse their strengths and prepare accordingly for their professional success, Justice Mahadevan said, “Remember that one should read and keep on reading. Learn to experience the power within you, and be guided by the higher values in which you believe,” he added.
He requested the State Government to render financial support to TNNLU for the university’s infrastructural and academic development.
The ceremony saw the graduation of 135 students (100 undergraduates and 35 postgraduates). Several students were honoured for their outstanding academic achievements.
Chief Justice, Madras High Court and TNNLU Chancellor K. R. Shriram, conferred the degrees. Vice-chancellor V. Nagraj presented the annual report.
Justices Anitha Sumanth, Maria Clete and Shamim Ahmed, judges of Madras High Court, and former judges K. N. Basha, and P. N. Prakash were among the special invitees.
