Augusta-area actors, technicians wanted for TV pilot shoot in March

Shooting is scheduled to begin in Augusta in March for a television pilot, and an independent filmmaker is looking for local talent in front of and behind the cameras.

Florida-based Q2 Films describes the forthcoming “Asherah: A Love Odyssey” on its website as a “groundbreaking TV series that redefines mythological storytelling for a modern audience,” according to the casting website Backstage.com.

Q2 Films owner and CEO Gary Mazeffa is looking for at least three actors.

“Miguel” is a half-Japanese, half-Hispanic character between ages 18 and 24, born in Los Angeles, who “admires the path of the Samurai warrior and honors both of his parents”. He falls in love with Asherah, the show’s titular female lead. The actor should be athletically fit and familiar with martial arts.

“Gabriel” is a supporting role for a girl aged 12 to 14 who’s “young, cute and a bit sassier” than Asherah, with whom Gabriel first appears in the film.

Another role, for an unnamed samurai warrior, seeks “a physically fit, young, handsome man who can play the role of a person who follows the way of the Shinto Priest and the Samurai Warrior.”

Q2 also seeks a location scout who can help find “a ‘traditional’ church with stained glass windows, vaulted ceilings, ornate designs, an altar, pews, etc.,” according to Backstage.

Q2 also is looking for a line producer from the Augusta area to assemble a film crew “with previous narrative experience” to make the proposed six-episode first season of the TV show.

Production is expected to begin in Augusta on March 8.
