Austin hosts New Year’s Eve Celebration with music, fireworks, and safety measures
AUSTIN, Texas — Austin welcomed 2025 with a bang at Auditorium Shores, hosting a massive New Year’s Eve celebration that drew thousands of revelers.
The event, organized by the City of Austin and Visit Austin, featured a vibrant blend of live music, dazzling fireworks, and a palpable sense of excitement, making it a night to remember.
Anticipating a huge influx of visitors, Visit Austin said they went above and beyond to ensure the city was ready, “At Visit Austin, it’s all about making sure hotels are prepared for the influx of visitors, and restaurants are staffed and ready to welcome folks who are coming out late tonight,” shared Wesley Lucas, a representative from Visit Austin.
Austin, known as the ‘Live Music Capital of the World,’ lived up to its reputation with an incredible lineup of performances.
“What better place to celebrate new year’s eve than in the live music capital of the world, with local live music and a great national headliner like Third Eye Blind?” Lucas added.

While fun was at the forefront, safety remained a top priority for organizers. The City of Austin deployed a visible security presence and encouraged a community-minded approach to safety.
“If you see something, say something. There will be officers on-site, which you can make a report to, or call 911,” emphasized Stephanie Sanchez, a City of Austin Public Information Officer.
From the youngest attendees to seasoned revelers, everyone found something to celebrate.
One little Austinite, brimming with excitement for the fireworks, said, “I love fireworks. I really wanna see them.”
KJ Cavil, an Austin resident, summed up the shared sentiment, “[I just want] to hang out spend time with family and enjoy New Year’s Eve and go into 2025 with a bang.”
