Ayr Music Club season ends with Les Trois Blondes concert

The performance at Alloway Parish Church was attended by many members and friends of the club.

The trio, consisting of brothers John and George Burns on accordions and Fergus Wood on drums, claim to be the only band of their style in Scotland.

Their programme aimed to tell the story of Bal Musette, a form of French instrumental music and dance, during the Second World War.

The audience enjoyed a diverse repertoire of waltzes, polkas, foxtrots, and tangos from Scotland and abroad.

The trio showed their versatility by handling the various tempos and rhythms of the music with ease.

Numerous anecdotes shared between musical items added to the entertainment, giving the evening a “gig” feel rather than the more formal “recital” typical of the club.

Ayr Music Club said the concert was a “thoroughly enjoyable evening, proving that variety is indeed ‘the spice of life’.”

The first concert of the new season will be on Saturday, October 25, at the Salvation Army Community Church, John Street.
