Badenoch needs to show more fighting spirit
Sir, Fraser Nelson (“Badenoch’s rope-a-dope is panicking Tories”, Feb 8) accurately summarises the strategy of Kemi Badenoch as “it takes time to fix the machine . . . no party booted from government is forgiven after a few months”. This strategy bears an uncanny resemblance to the line taken by Edward Heath when, after “13 wasted years” and a narrow majority in October 1964, Harold Wilson secured a landslide of 96 in March 1966. In October that year I attended a party meeting in Exeter when Heath, elected as leader the year before, was criticised for exactly what is being levelled at Badenoch.
