Baltic Hub inaugurates T3 to boost logistics in Poland

Baltic Hub has inaugurated its T3 terminal in Gdańsk, a key expansion of Poland’s port infrastructure and a strategic enhancement to its position in global trade.

The 36-hectare T3 terminal will boost Baltic Hub’s capacity from 3 million to 4.5 million TEUs, enabling it to handle the world’s largest containerships.

Key infrastructure includes a 717-metre quay wall and 17.5 metres of depth, along with 20 automated rail-mounted gantry (RMG) cranes and seven semi-automatic ship-to-shore (STS) cranes capable of servicing vessels over 24,000 TEUs.

Now in its commissioning phase—expected to finish by October 2025—T3 integrates sustainable design features such as low-emission materials, marine habitat protection, and green electricity-powered equipment.

These efforts support Baltic Hub’s goals to cut emissions by 50 per cent by 2030 and reach net-zero by 2050.

The terminal is set to significantly expand trade capacity for Poland and Central and Eastern Europe, while improving intermodal connectivity to global shipping routes.

Jan Van Mossevelde, CEO of Baltic Hub, stated: “Today, we celebrate the inauguration of T3, one of the largest port investments in the Baltic region.

“This milestone not only drives the economic development of Pomerania and Poland, but also reinforces the country’s position as a strategic player in international trade.”

Piotr Matczuk, President of the Polish Development Fund (PFR), added: “A modern container port strengthens the resilience of supply chains and opens up access to global markets on an unprecedented scale for Poland and the entire Central and Eastern European region.

“But Baltic Hub is not just a gateway for trade. Soon, it will also be part of the energy infrastructure, and thus an important element of our country’s economic security.”

Baltic Hub commenced construction works for the new T3 terminal in June 2024.
