Battlefield REDSEC release today in India: How to play the free battle royale mode
New Delhi: Battlefield’s long-rumoured battle royale is finally ready to drop, and it is officially free-to-play. Battlefield REDSEC, the standalone battle royale mode built on Battlefield 6’s systems, will launch on October 28 worldwide. For Indian players, the mode will go live at 8:30 PM IST, giving fans a prime-time evening drop. What makes this launch even bigger is that you do not need to own Battlefield 6 to play REDSEC. It is a completely separate free download.
EA had stayed silent about REDSEC during Battlefield 6’s launch month, even though leaks had hinted that a free battle royale was coming. Now the rumours have been confirmed just one day ahead of launch, with REDSEC rolling out as part of Season 1.
Battlefield REDSEC launch time for India
Battlefield REDSEC will launch at the same global moment, converted to different time zones. For India, the official launch time is 8:30 PM IST on October 28, 2025.
Here is the full global schedule with India conversions:
- Pacific Daylight Time – 8:00 AM (IST: 8:30 PM, Oct 28)
- Central Daylight Time – 10:00 AM (IST: 8:30 PM, Oct 28)
- Eastern Daylight Time – 11:00 AM (IST: 8:30 PM, Oct 28)
- GMT / UTC – 3:00 PM (IST: 8:30 PM, Oct 28)
- Central European Time – 4:00 PM (IST: 8:30 PM, Oct 28)
- China Standard Time – 11:00 PM (IST: 8:30 PM, Oct 28)
- Japan Standard Time – 12:00 AM, Oct 29 (IST: 8:30 PM, Oct 28)
- Australian Eastern Standard Time – 1:00 AM, Oct 29 (IST: 8:30 PM, Oct 28)
The game technically unlocks on October 29 in Japan and Australia, but it is a single global launch.
How to download Battlefield REDSEC
Battlefield REDSEC will be available as a separate download across Steam, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and the EA Play app. It will not require a Battlefield 6 purchase. Players just need an EA Account to log in.
Developers have confirmed that REDSEC “will be free-to-play”, and that the battle royale “is built on the full game’s systems”. This means Battlefield-style movement, destruction, and gunplay will remain intact.
Before starting the download, make sure you have:
- An EA Account
- At least 40 GB free storage
- System configuration that meets Battlefield 6’s minimum requirements
EA has not confirmed any pre-load option, so most players will begin downloading after launch time. If queues appear, they are expected to move fast, similar to Battlefield 6’s launch.
What players should expect at launch
Since REDSEC is part of the Battlefield 6 Season 1 update, some features will go live gradually. The full Season 1 content under update 1.1.1.0 will arrive a few hours after the battle royale becomes visible in menus.
This means Indian players logging in at 8:30 PM IST may not instantly see all playlists. Developers have advised players “not to panic if you don’t get to see the BR option right away”.
With the game being free, a flood of new players is expected. Battlefield 6 saw login queues during its early access period, and REDSEC may follow the same pattern.
Why REDSEC is a key moment for Battlefield
This marks the franchise’s return to the battle royale genre after its previous attempt failed to gain momentum. The difference this time is clear: REDSEC is free, accessible, and launching alongside a full Battlefield title.
It is not a mode hidden behind a full-priced game. It is being positioned as a standalone live-service experience, much like Call of Duty Warzone.
For players in India, this is the biggest Battlefield moment in over a decade. The game launches during prime evening hours, making it possible for players to squad up right after work or college.
