Advocating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the Best Buddies Philippines Foundation and The Bistro Group host a benefit concert at Hard Rock Cafe

MANILA, Philippines – Best Buddies Philippines Foundation Inc. (BBPFI) and The Bistro Group will hold Sounds of Change 2, a benefit concert on September 11, 6 pm, at Hard Rock Cafe, S Maison in Pasay City.

This second edition of the concert highlights Hard Rock Cafe’s tagline, “Love All-Serve All,” as the event serves as a space not only for music but also aims to advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

It features performances from BBPFI artists and musicians, including Anouck Weber, Clarence Cruz, Ian Borleo, Kyle Ebora, Luis Gatchalian, Mark Daza, Sky Jacoba, Alex Soriano, and Nep Gonzales III. They’re also ambassadors who amplify the voices and experiences of their community.

“Music is something that the buddies identify with; it brings people together all the time. It is meant to create change in the community,” said Michelle Aventajado, BBP executive director.

Sounds of Change will feature buddies with IDDs who have incredible talents, as we believe that the best way to amplify these talents is to put the spotlight on them, even just for one night, and showcase their abilities.”

Through the support of De La Salle College of St. Benilde Music Production Program, these young musicians were guided on their set list and received technical advice as artists.

“This initiative is a shining example of how educational institutions can leverage their resources and expertise to create meaningful, inclusive, and transformative experiences for individuals with diverse abilities, said Patrick Frias, department chairperson of the Music Production Program of De La Salle College of Saint Benilde.

“It demonstrates the power of music as a universal language and a powerful tool for social inclusion and personal growth.”

Organizers said the event’s frontline staff participated in orientations and trainings to increase disability awareness, share proper communication practices, and hold open conversations about personal and professional experiences.

“The first Sounds of Change concert was a great success; we are excited to help showcase the buddies the second time around,” said The Bistro Group’s chief marketing officer Lisa Ronquillo-Along.

The Best Buddies-Bistro partnership aims to spread awareness and acceptance of neurodivergent young adults and advocates for their inclusion in all spaces and sectors. It also promotes music as an avenue for people of different backgrounds and capabilities to creatively express themselves and collaborate on music.

Tickets are available online at for P1,550. Proceeds will support Best Buddies Philippines projects.
