Bhubaneswar Science City: Odisha Minister Seeks Expertise from Bihar

The Odisha government has initiated the process to establish a state-of-the-art Science City in Bhubaneswar, with active steps being taken by the Science and Technology Department.

Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, along with senior officials, has been studying successful science city models in other states to ensure the project meets global standards. Last week, Minister Patra visited Patna to tour the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Science City and held discussions with Bihar’s Deputy Chief Ministers, Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Choudhury, to gain insights into its construction and operational framework.

The proposed Science City in Bhubaneswar will span 100 acres and feature modern exhibitions, immersive learning spaces, and advanced research facilities. The initiative aims to foster scientific curiosity, innovation, and education while promoting cutting-edge research and development. To ensure the project’s success, a high-level committee will be formed, and specialised officers from Bihar will be invited to Odisha to provide expert consultation.

Minister Patra emphasised that the Science City will serve as a hub for scientific exploration, inspiring the next generation of innovators and researchers in Odisha. The project is expected to elevate the state’s position in science and technology, aligning with national goals of fostering innovation and education.
