The Annual Jazz on the Lawn & Ice Cream Social at the Dr. Sloan Library on Saturday, Sept. 13, was filled with the sounds of music, thanks to a small group of student and alumni musicians from Benjamin Logan Schools who dedicated their time and talent to the community.

This year’s group included Austyn Randall, a current senior at Benjamin Logan High School, on drumset, along with alumni Harry Stratton, Evan Wall, and Bri Sliker. Their performance created a welcoming atmosphere for those who gathered to enjoy ice cream, conversation, and community fellowship.

“We’re always grateful when our students and alumni are willing to share their music,” said Sally Stolly, Benjamin Logan administrator. “Events like this are less about the performance itself and more about connecting with neighbors, celebrating traditions, and giving back in simple, but meaningful ways.”

The celebration also featured a quilt display and raffle presented by The Logan Piecemakers and a soup beans and cornbread dinner hosted by the Zane Cabin Restoration Committee at Helen Wonders Blue Memorial Park. In addition to the jazz ensemble, the Mad River Dulcimer Society shared their music, adding to the variety of entertainment and community spirit in Zanesfield.
