Kota Kinabalu: Bongawan Super Vet were crowned champions in the Piala Mimpaagat DCMM 50s 2025 football tournament held at the Penampang Sports Complex over the weekend.
They defeated home favourite Mimpaagat Titans 2-0 in the final to claim the trophy and the RM7,000 winning cash prize, while the losing finalists had to settle for RM5,000.
A total of 13 teams from the west coast and the interior regions took part in the tournament organised by Kelab Rekreasi Mimpaagat Tokou Sabah (KRMTS) and sponsored by Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun.
Tournament chairman Datuk Robert Stidi praised all the teams for their competitiveness and the sportsmanship displayed throughout the event.
“This tournament is not just about football — it’s about friendship, fitness and keeping the spirit of the game alive even beyond 50,” he said.
Meanwhile, organising spokesperson Eddy Limbang thanked all the participants, sponsors for their support and also to the supporters for their presence to make the event a success.
“We’re proud to see that there are veteran players out there still passionate and active in the sport. The joy and unity displayed here reflect the real essence of community football,” he said.
