Boys hockey results for Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025: Century/JM stays hot, tops Owatonna – Post Bulletin
OWATONNA — The Rochester Century/John Marshall boys hockey team carried the momentum from its Kiwanis Festival championship last week into this week, and into Big Nine Conference play.
In its first post-holiday game, Century/JM blew out conference rival Owatonna 8-2 on the Huskies’ home ice at Four Seasons Centre on Thursday night.
The Panthers led 1-0 after one period thanks to a Brock Clarey power-play goal, then pulled away with five goals in the second period.
Calvin O’Reilly notched a hat trick in the victory, while Ole Fevold (two goals, one assist) and Hatcher Hodge (one goal, two assists) had three-point games. Jarek Solak also scored once for the Panthers, who are 9-3-0 overall and 9-1-0 in their past 10 games.
Century/JM also improved to 3-1-0 in Big Nine play.
Owatonna drops to 3-1-0 in the conference and 6-5-0 overall.
Kyle Lappi made 26 saves to get the win for the Panthers.
Owatonna’s Grady Roush scored 5:38 into the third to get his team on the board. That goal was the first even-strength goal Lappi had allowed in four games — since River Falls’ Jaxon Flanagan scored 4:38 into the third period of a 7-2 Century/JM win on Dec. 21.
Owatonna is back in action at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dodge County. Century/JM plays at noon Saturday at Austin.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
