Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) received the SCOPE Eminence Award for Environment Excellence & Sustainable Development for 2022-23 on Sunday. President Droupadi Murmu presented the award to BPCL’s Director (Refineries) Sanjay Khanna and Director (Finance) Vetsa Ramkrishna Gupta in New Delhi.
The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) instituted the awards to recognise excellence in governance, innovation, and sustainable business practices among public sector enterprises.
BPCL, a Maharatna company and Fortune Global 500 firm, has positioned itself as a leader in India’s green energy transition. The company has committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2040 through strategic investments in biofuels, compressed biogas, green hydrogen, and renewable energy projects.

The company’s distribution network spans over 23,500 fuel stations, more than 6,200 LPG distributorships, and includes electric vehicle charging stations at over 6,500 locations.
The award recognises BPCL’s environmental initiatives and sustainable development efforts as the company transforms from a traditional oil marketing firm into an integrated energy company focused on cleaner alternatives and carbon reduction.
