Bridges for Music and EDC Las Vegas partner on new African dance music stage, UBUNTU

Bridges for Music has partnered with EDC Las Vegas on a new stage spotlighting African dance music, UBUNTU.

Launching at the festival’s flagship event this weekend, 16th to 18th May, the stage will feature performances from 20+ artists from across Africa and its diaspora.

Artists on the bill across the weekend include amapiano powerhouse Uncle Waffles, gqom pioneer DJ Lag, Afro house mainstays Da Capo and Kasango, Zambian-Scottish star KILIMANJARO, London trailblazer Kitty Amor, and many more.

The UBUNTU stage takes its name from an African philosophy that embodies “interconnectedness and humanity towards others”.

Speaking about the collaboration, Valentino Barrioseta, Founder of Bridges for Music, shared: “This partnership between EDC and Bridges for Music is more than music, it’s about impact and community and the ripple effects will be felt far away from Las Vegas, on a grassroots level.”

“We’ve witnessed across the continent how music can be a catalyst for transformation,” Barrioseta added. “The artists on the line-up are leading this transformation showing the next generation what’s possible.”

The US EDM festival will take over Las Vegas’ Motor Speedway this weekend, featuring standout sets from Charlotte de Witte, Andy C, Skepta, Interplanetary Criminal, Eric Prydz, Amelie Lens and more.

Last month, DJ Mag partnered with Bridges for Music for their second annual IMS Ibiza Cycle challenge.

In January, EDC hosted its first festival in Thailand, with Skrillex, ILLENIUM, Ahadadream, Tiësto, Afrojack and more.
