Azim Premji University, Bhopal, invites you to a three-day in-person workshop on Bridging Nature with Data Science from January 29 – 31, 2026.
Data science is an essential tool across all developmental sectors, modern industries, and research fields. In this data-driven revolution, students, teachers, researchers, and professionals, especially those from non-technical backgrounds, often face theoretical and applied challenges. The workshop aims to discuss the modern data science tools and technologies in a lucid language and how these technologies can be used to address some of the most pressing environmental challenges of the modern world.
The first edition of the workshop, organized online in 2024, witnessed enthusiastic responses from more than 100 participants from India and beyond. Based on their feedback and demand, the 2nd chapter of this workshop is back – this time it is in-person, more intense, and hands-on heavy. We will start with the basic statistics, but will move from raw data to robust models, and finally to professional, reproducible reports and maps.
Highlights of the workshop:
• Day 1: Foundation and Core Modeling: Learn to handle raw data, go beyond simple correlations, and apply fundamental machine learning techniques
• Day 2: Advanced techniques and reproducibility: Learn how to use powerful resampling methods, explore complex ecological relationships, and master dynamic documentation with Quarto
• Day 3: Handling spatial data: Get an introduction to spatial data analysis, and gain practical experience to perform essential geoprocessing tasks and learn the art of professional-quality map-making in QGIS
Who should attend:
Motivated undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students. Teachers, researchers, and working professionals are also welcome to join.
