CAFS, World Bank discuss cooperation in governance and institutional independence field – Syrian Arab News Agency
Damascus, SANA-Head of Central Agency for Financial Control (CAFS), Wassim al-Mansour, discussed with two representatives of the World Bank, Mohammad Qamh and Jad Mazahreh, ways to enhance joint cooperation in the field of developing oversight work and strengthening the agency’s independence, in line with international best practices in financial governance.
During a meeting between the two sides at the Agency’s building, Al-Mansour stressed the importance of real-time oversight as an effective tool for controlling public spending and reducing violations in a timely manner. This is part of an institutional approach toward comprehensive modernization of oversight tools, pointing out to the importance of the pivotal role played by the Agency in promoting integrity and financial transparency.
Al-Mansour stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation with international institutions, most notably the World Bank, to provide the necessary technical and logistical support to accelerate the pace of digital regulatory transformation.
For their part, the World Bank representatives expressed the bank’s readiness to offer its expertise and modern supervisory work experiences in this field, noting the Central Agency for Financial Control’s commitment to supporting steps aimed at enhancing financial transparency and accountability.
