Capitol Music Group appoints Sara Nix and Joe Mortimer as co-heads of creative | Labels

Capitol Music Group has appointed Sara Nix and Joe Mortimer as co-heads of creative at the label. 

“Sara and Joe come to Capitol after having worked with some of the most acclaimed artists, directors and creative visionaries in the world,” said Tom March, chairman and CEO of Capitol Music Group. “Together they form a potent team to help the incredible artists on our label reach their full creative potential and drive our ongoing transformation at Capitol.”

Sara Nix has joined Capitol after a lengthy tenure at Partizan, the company founded by the director Michel Gondry, where she served as executive producer for the last six years. During her career, Nix has worked with artists including Pharrell Williams, Daft Punk, Travis Scott, Billie Eilish, Usher, Dua Lipa, A$AP Rocky, Burna Boy, Doja Cat and SZA. 

Nix has also worked closely with directors such as Warren Fu, Nono Ayuso, Rodrigo Inada, Ally Pankiw and others on music video, branded documentaries and short films for a variety of lifestyle and brand clients. She began her career in production nearly 15 years ago in Amsterdam and has produced and overseen projects across multiple continents.

Joe Mortimer has joined Capitol after serving as creative director at Astralwerks since 2018. At Astralwerks he built global campaigns for Marshmello, Illenium, Avalanches, SG Lewis and Zhu. 

He has been a frequent collaborator with Capitol artists such as The Beatles, Katy Perry and Beck, as well as working closely on the Grammy-nominated campaign for Troye Sivan’s Something to Give Each Other. Prior to being in Los Angeles he was working in London, acting as an art director for artists such as Jungle and Bob Moses. 

Over the past decade he has worked with photographers and directors such as Jack Bridgland, Gordon Von Steiner, Hannah Lux Davis, Charlotte Rutherford, Torso, Zhang + Knight and Stillz. 

In 2025, he co-created the California Picture Project, a photographic print sale that raised funds for the Los Angeles wildfires, through generous contributions by over 160 artists including Spike Jonze, Sofia Coppola, Gabriel Moses, Nadia Lee Cohen & Petra Collins to name a few. 

“Over the years I’ve worked closely with many of the executives and artists at Capitol,” said Mortimer. “I’m so excited to be taking on this role to steer the creative vision of the label along with Sara.”

Mortimer and Nix will be based in Capitol Tower in Hollywood.
