Cargill announces leadership changes in India | Food Business Middle East & Africa

INDIA – Cargill has introduced new leadership appointments in India as part of its plans to expand operations and strengthen its presence in the region.

The company has named Ravinder Balain as Country President for Cargill in India, a position he will hold alongside his existing role as Senior Managing Director of Cargill’s Animal Nutrition & Health business.

In this expanded role, Balain will coordinate collaboration across all Cargill businesses and functions in India, guide government and stakeholder engagement, maintain business continuity, and advise the global executive team on developments in the Indian market.

He will also continue to oversee Cargill’s Animal Nutrition & Health operations in South Asia, which includes product lines under brands such as Purina, Provimi, and Vetcare.

Balain has more than 33 years of professional experience, having previously worked as Managing Director for South Asia and Southeast Asia at Corteva Agrisciences and spending decades in senior leadership positions at DuPont focused on marketing and talent development.

Speaking on his appointment, Balain said India remains a priority market for Cargill and that his role will involve deepening partnerships, fostering innovation, and ensuring sustainable growth for customers and communities.

Alongside this announcement, Cargill has also appointed Dheeraj Talreja as Vice President and Managing Director for Food South Asia.

Talreja brings over 20 years of experience in the food ingredients, specialty chemicals, and manufacturing industries, having most recently led AAK India, South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, where he oversaw the company’s transition from a joint venture to a wholly owned subsidiary.

His earlier career includes senior roles at Huntsman Singapore, where he worked on commercial strategy and operational restructuring across several high-growth regions, including North East and South East Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

At Cargill, Talreja will be tasked with advancing the Food APAC strategy in South Asia, focusing on product innovation, efficiency in operations, and strengthening customer engagement.

Commenting on his new role, Talreja said India’s food, health, and nutrition industries are rapidly changing, and he aims to deliver customer-oriented solutions while aligning with Cargill’s global purpose.
