Castrol India Launches All-in-One Helmet Cleaner Product
Castrol India launched the Castrol All-in-One Helmet Cleaner on September 22, 2025, expanding its Auto Care business portfolio to address helmet hygiene needs of Indian two-wheeler riders through a foam spray product that provides 99.99% antibacterial action and is dermatologically tested for skin and hair safety.
The Mumbai-based lubricant company identified a market gap in helmet maintenance solutions for India’s large two-wheeler user base. The product launch targets riders who currently rely on water and household detergents for helmet cleaning, methods that Castrol characterizes as inconvenient and less effective for proper helmet hygiene.
The foam spray product cleans both interior and exterior helmet surfaces using silver ION technology for antibacterial action. The formulation has undergone dermatological testing to ensure safety for contact with skin and hair, addressing concerns about chemical exposure during helmet use.
Castrol has made the product available across its pan-India retail and workshop network, as well as through Amazon’s e-commerce platform. The company is supporting the launch with in-store promotional activities and digital marketing campaigns to build awareness among target consumers.
Kedar Lele, Managing Director of Castrol India Limited, positioned the launch as a strategic expansion: “The Castrol All-in-One Helmet Cleaner is a natural extension of our Auto Care portfolio. It solves a real and everyday need for riders, while opening a new, repeat-use category for the business. For our trade partners, it brings a differentiated product to the shelves; for us, it is another step in strengthening Castrol’s role as a complete Auto Care brand.”
The helmet cleaner joins Castrol’s existing Auto Care product range that includes Chain Cleaner, Chain Lube, 3-in-1 Shiner, and other motorcycle maintenance products designed for regular rider use.
India’s two-wheeler market represents one of the world’s largest motorcycle and scooter user bases, with millions of daily riders facing challenges related to helmet hygiene in hot and dusty environmental conditions. The introduction of specialized cleaning products reflects the automotive aftermarket’s evolution toward addressing specific rider needs beyond traditional engine oils and lubricants.
Castrol India Limited operates as part of the bp group with a 115-year presence in the Indian market. The company maintains three blending facilities and distributes products through over 150,000 retail outlets nationwide, serving automotive, mining, machinery, and wind energy sectors.
