CEF Group gets €38 mn for biogas plants backed by Germany

CEF Group, a clean-tech company specialising in sustainable waste management and renewable energy solutions, has secured €38 million in equity and debt funding from the German Export Finance Bank to establish two compressed biogas (CBG) plants.

CEF Group specialises in building and operating CBG plants, converting agricultural/agro-industrial and municipal waste into clean fuel.

 CBG plants to empower rural economy

Quoting Maninder Singh, Founder and CEO of CEF Group, a media statement said: “At CEF Group, we believe that India’s future lies in turning its waste into wealth. This milestone investment will enable us to fast-track the development of 22 CBG plants across the country, converting municipal and agricultural waste into clean, renewable energy. As a home-grown clean-tech company aligned with the SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) vision, we are not just building biogas plants — we are empowering rural economies, advancing energy independence, and driving India’s transition to a truly circular economy.”

Rieckermann facilitated CEF Group India’s investment in two CBG plants with its export credit agency-covered financing service. Contracting and first implementation steps for CEF Jammu Energy Pvt Ltd and CEF Ahmedabad Cleaneffentech Pvt Ltd have been completed. The Rieckermann Group’s Trade Finance Swiss GmbH has been commissioned to act as project manager and general supplier of engineering, equipment, and project-related services, alongside the structuring and arrangement of long-term financing with support from the export credit agency.

Plants to process 850 tonnes daily, generate by-products

The new facilities will be processing up to 850 tonnes per day of municipal solid waste into CBG. The process will also generate valuable by-products such as organic manure and refuse-derived fuel.
