CHANGAN Automobile Plans 20 Overseas Plants Globally, Expanding into Over 100 Countries

On June 7, the 27th Chongqing International Auto Exhibition officially opened. As a leading local car manufacturer in Chongqing, CHANGAN Automobile participated under the theme “Together for A Smarter World”, showcasing its full brand matrix and presenting its phased achievements and future plans in new energy, intelligence, and globalization.

At the event, CHANGAN Automobile announced that under its global “Vast Ocean Plan”, the company is accelerating the construction of its “152” global layout—comprising 1 base in China, 5 regional markets, and 20 overseas plants.

In terms of factory construction, by 2025, CHANGAN Automobile has completed the establishment of 9 overseas factories, with a strong focus on Southeast Asia. Its first new energy vehicle manufacturing base—the Rayong plant in Thailand—began production in May, with an annual capacity of 100,000 vehicles, marking a significant leap from product exports to full industrial expansion abroad.

In terms of market expansion, CHANGAN Automobile is currently prioritizing its entry into Europe. The company has established over 14,000 global sales and service outlets. Among them, sales subsidiaries in Germany and the Netherlands have officially begun operations, while preparations for the UK National Sales Company (NSC) are progressing in parallel. Recently, CHANGAN has signed exclusive general distributor agreements in Norway, Portugal, and Greece, and is accelerating partnerships with dealers in Spain, Italy (markets with over one million annual vehicle sales), and Poland, a key strategic market in Eastern Europe. Beyond Europe, the company is also actively expanding into South America and East Africa.

In terms of brand building, CHANGAN Automobile has held 28 regional brand launch events worldwide. The brand launch held in Munich this March marked the company’s official entry into the European market, where it unveiled its three main brands—CHANGAN, DEEPAL, and AVATR—along with nine vehicle models, covering pure electric, plug-in hybrid, and high-end intelligent vehicles. This event also signaled the deep integration of CHANGAN into the local market with its “IN EUROPE, FOR EUROPE” strategy.

CHANGAN Automobile is one of the four major automobile groups in China. It has self-owned brands including CHANGAN UNI, CHANGAN NEVO, CHANGAN LCV, DEEPAL, AVATR, and joint venture brands including CHANGAN Ford, CHANGAN Mazda, and JMC. In recent years, CHANGAN has focused on international development, striving to become a world-class automotive brand.
