Chiranjeevi slams reports linking him to Telugu film workers’ protest
The ongoing wage dispute in the Telugu film industry has taken a new turn, with megastar Chiranjeevi publicly clarifying that he has no role in the matter.
Addressing the rumours, Chiranjeevi strongly rejected claims made by a few people who introduced themselves as members of the Film Federation. These individuals allegedly told the media that the actor had met with protesting workers and promised to support their demand for a 30% pay hike.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Chiranjeevi made his stance clear.
It has come to my attention that some individuals claiming to be the members of the Film Federation have gone to media falsely claiming that I have met them and given an assurance that their demands regarding 30% wage hike etc., shall be met and that I will be starting shooting…

“I have not met anyone from the federation. This is an industry issue and no individual including me can give any unilateral assurances to solve any problem one way or the other,” he wrote.
He went on to explain that the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce is the official body that represents the industry in such matters. Only the chamber, he said, has the authority to hold talks with concerned groups and work towards a solution.

“The film chamber is the apex body of the Telugu Film Industry and only the Film chamber as a collective will engage in discussions with all concerned and arrive at a just solution. Until such time, making such false claims is unacceptable,” Chiranjeevi added firmly.
The controversy began earlier this month when the Telugu Industry Film Employees’ Federation demanded a 30% wage increase. In response, the Film Chamber issued a statement highlighting that current pay rates for both skilled and unskilled workers are already higher than the legal minimum wage.
The chamber also warned that the sudden work disruption could severely harm ongoing film projects.
“We have worked closely with federation members for decades. This sudden move will cause huge losses to films currently in production. We condemn the action and will find a sustainable solution,” their statement read.
The chamber has been holding talks with relevant authorities to address the issue and has advised producers to avoid making any separate deals or arrangements with unions until there is a collective decision.
