Citroen eyes market share gain in India with Basalt X Range

The company plans to introduce intelligent assistance across all its car models

French automaker Citroen is hoping to get more visibility and increase its market share in India with the first intelligent in-car assistance system in the Citroen Basalt X Range for which bookings opened last month.

The company launched the range starting from ₹7,95,000 to ₹12,89,500.

“We took this thought last year, and we engaged our global innovation hub located at Software X Centre in Bangalore, where we took this idea and we said, ‘how do we really make it happen where a customer can get their entire world inside the car and he doesn’t need to take their eyes off. It could be a human-like conversation which can have the tonality, understanding the mode, understanding the way it’s being said, understanding the context, all that has been included in this REO parameter system, which is now available with BasaltX’,” Shailesh Hazela, CEO and Managing Director, Stellantis India, told businessline

The company plans to introduce intelligent assistance across all its car models. “We are offering our BasaltX Max variant across all three max variants. As the demand grows, we will continue to evaluate and offer it for the customers who want to get into the traditional world and get into the best,” he said.

market share

The company has an ambitious plan to make India its second-largest market and increase market share in the Indian automobile sector, where it is less than 2 per cent now.

“We are looking at 2,000 per month volume with the range. We eventually want to go upto 4,000 units per month. By 2030, we would like to become a strong challenger in India,” he said, adding that he expected to gain 0.5 per cent share with Basalt X.

The car company will also be reducing vehicle prices when the changed Goods and Services Tax takes effect from September 22.

“The GST reduction will certainly enable more people to purchase vehicles. It will also increase our market share. At a lower cost, we will see more customers coming to us,” added Hazela.
