CJ Opiaza to take Miss Grand International crown after India’s Rachel Gupta’s resignation

Christine Juliane “CJ” Opiaza is set to become the first Filipina to hold the Miss Grand International title, following the termination of India’s Rachel Gupta’s reign.

The official coronation is scheduled for June 3 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Gupta, who made history as the first Indian to win the crown in October 2024, announced her resignation on May 28, citing “broken promises, mistreatment, and a toxic environment.”

However, the Miss Grand International Organization stated that Gupta was officially terminated for breaching contractual obligations, including skipping an official trip to Guatemala and engaging in unauthorized external initiatives.

Opiaza, who was the first runner-up in the 2024 pageant, will assume the title, making her the Philippines’ first Miss Grand International queen.

The crowning ceremony will be held at the MGI Hall in Bangkok, where Opiaza will officially take over the responsibilities and duties associated with the title.
