Columbia area spring sports boys athlete of the week winner from Week 10

The votes are in and Lawrence County baseball’s Jack Emerson has been selected by fans as The Daily Herald’s Columbia area TSSAA spring sports boys athlete of the week from Week 10 of the season.

Emerson just edged out first place after collecting a massive 25,036 votes, accounting for 47.75% of all votes cast. He was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs as Lawrence County took down Stone Memorial, 9-5, in the Region 4-3A semifinals.

Just behind him in second was Summit track and field’s Michael Crutcher, who finished with 24,202 votes, 46.16% of the poll’s total. At the Class AAA Section 3 meet Crutcher placed second in the high jump, clearing a mark of 6-4.

In third was Battle Creek soccer’s Charles Gray with 1,758 votes, 3.35% of all votes. Gray scored two goals and provided two assists in a 9-0 win over Culleoka.
