Commanders-GIants rematch flexed to ‘Sunday Night Football’
The Commanders and Giants meet again in two weeks. And this time, they’ll do it in prime time.
The NFL flexed Washington’s Dec. 18 matchup with the Giants to “Sunday Night Football,” making the announcement one day after the two teams produced a 20-20 tie at MetLife Stadium. The game will start at 8:20 p.m. and will be the Commanders’ first Sunday night game at FedEx Field since 2017.
The prime-time matchup features two teams in the thick of the NFC playoff race. The Giants (7-4-1) are currently the sixth seed under first-year coach Brian Daboll, while the Commanders (7-5-1) are just on the outside of the postseason after winning the last six of eight.
The league had previously scheduled the Las Vegas Raiders and the New England Patriots to meet on “Sunday Night Football.” That game was moved to the 4 p.m. window earlier in the day.
The NFL originally listed the Commanders-Giants rematch for either Saturday, Dec. 17 or Sunday, Dec. 18.
