Community honors late musician and coach Tommy Selemba with Rockin’ for Tommy Tribute
SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A special tribute was held this weekend in memory of a local musician and community mentor. Friends, family, and fans gathered at the V-Spot in Scranton to remember Tommy Selemba, a longtime drummer and youth sports coach.
The event, called Rockin’ for Tommy, featured performances from local bands, including D West. Selemba was the original drummer and a founding member of Lost Dogs, a Pearl Jam tribute band. He passed away in April. In addition to his music, Selemba was known for coaching youth sports in the West Side from T-ball to varsity baseball and youth football.
“We’re going to be doing a lot of Pearl Jam songs in dedication to Tommy. He was a phenomenal drummer, and more importantly, he gave back to the community—football coach, baseball coach for West Scranton, all those kids coming up, he coached all those programs,” said Michael Baresse, organizer and band member in D-West.
Proceeds from the event went directly to his family.
