PM Modi-Xi Jinping Meet
On Sunday, PM held a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the SCO Summit. Their talks lasted over 50 minutes, where the two powerful leaders discussed ways to ease the border tensions and strengthen cooperation between the Asian neighbours. PM Modi said he is “committed” to advancing India-China ties “based on mutual trust, respect, and sensitivity.” This was PM Modi’s first visit to China in seven years and his first direct engagement with Xi since relations between the two countries deteriorated following the deadly Galwan clashes in 2020.
