Corn Exchange Newbury reveals packed summer programme
The programme kicks off with the Corn Exchange Newbury’s Infant and Junior Youth Theatre presenting a stage adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, running from Friday, August 1 to Sunday, August 3.
This family-friendly production follows Alice’s whimsical adventures and promises to enchant audiences of all ages.
On Thursday, August 28, Shamilton: The Improvised Hip-Hop Musical will offer a unique theatre experience.
Fresh from a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe, the show invites the audience to choose a historical figure, with the cast then improvising a full-scale musical on the spot.
Saturday, August 30 sees the return of Newbury Sounds, showcasing an exciting line-up of local acts.
Headlining the event is A Dirty Soul, supported by Number of the Beef, The Liaisons, Lizzie Cullen and Solar Season.
All proceeds from the night will go towards the Corn Exchange Newbury’s Old Library Campaign.
Every Saturday until August 30, the Corn Exchange’s outdoor seating area will host Music on the Terrace, featuring live performances from local musicians.
Younger visitors can look forward to a range of creative workshops at the Learning Centre.
The Summer Dance School, led by professional dancer Zahra Smith, will run from Tuesday, August 12 to Thursday, August 14.
The popular Create and Make sessions will also run throughout the holidays, offering hands-on activities in arts, crafts and drama.
A theatre spokesperson said: “Whether you’re stepping into Wonderland, enjoying music under the sun, or discovering your creative side, the Corn Exchange Newbury is your destination for a summer to remember.”
