COSI Science Festival promises fun and learning for all ages

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The Center of Science and Industry (COSI) is gearing up to ignite curiosity and inspire minds with its annual SciFest. The event, which kicked off this week, features live experiments and a massive celebration aimed at making science accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

The festival includes live demonstrations, including a chemistry experiment using everyday materials like Styrofoam and nail polish remover to illustrate non-polar molecules and chemical reactions.

The festival’s highlight is the Big Science Celebration scheduled for Saturday. More than 150 interactive science tents will be set up outside the museum, showcasing everything from high-tech displays by major companies such as Honda and Battelle to creative exhibits from local small businesses and organizations involved in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM).

“It’s all about making science fun and accessible for everyone,” organizers said. “From kids trying out experiments to adults learning something new, there’s something for everyone.”

The event is free and family-friendly, and organizers are hopeful that the community will come out in force to celebrate innovation and exploration at COSI this weekend.
