New Delhi: The Union health ministry reported that 5,335 new COVID-19 infections have been reported in the nation in the past 24 hours, a considerable increase from the 4,435 cases reported on Wednesday.

As per the ministry’s latest data released on Thursday, it is the greatest one-day increase in almost six months. In the last few days, there has been an increase in COVID-19 cases in India, with the number of daily new infections ranging from 2,994 on April 1 to 3,824 on April 2 to 3,641 on April 3 to 3038 on April 4 to 4,435 on April 5. As per data, India now has 25,587 active Covid cases with a daily positive rate of 3.32 percent.

With 2,826 recoveries in the previous day, there have already been 4,41,82, 538 recoveries overall. It went on to say that India’s recovery rate is at 98.75 percent. India has administered 220.66 crore doses of the Covid vaccine as part of the nationwide vaccination drive, 1,993 of which were given on the previous day. The weekly positive rate is at 2.89 percent, the data read.

In light of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud stated on Wednesday that attorneys are allowed to virtually appear in court.

In response to the growing number of Covid cases in India, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Monday that there was no need for concern because the Omicron sub-variant, which is currently widespread in the nation, has not resulted in an increase in hospitalizations.

However, the minister said that there was a need to remain vigilant and take necessary steps to prevent the spread of the virus.
