CTI Asks Delhi Govt to Launch Mega Shopping Festivals Like Dubai, China

Delhi Shopping Festivals: The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) recently asked the Delhi government to start large shopping festivals and business fairs across the city. They want Delhi to have big events like the famous ones in Dubai and China. CTI members met with Tourism and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra at the Delhi Secretariat to share their ideas. They said that events like this can help Delhi grow its trade, bring in tourists, and boost the economy.

After the good response to the recent Teej festival, CTI feels that similar festivals can be held during big celebrations like Diwali and other well-known festivals.

These festivals, they believe, can attract a lot of people and help small sellers and businesses get more customers. CTI thinks it’s a good chance to mix fun, culture, and shopping in one place and also help those who don’t have big shops or can’t pay expensive rents.

CTI also shared that Delhi can host fairs that focus on things people buy every day like cars, furniture, food, footwear, and home decoration items. They suggested that each event could happen in a different part of the city. These fairs could even take place in popular market areas like Chandni Chowk making it easier for local vendors.

CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal said these kinds of events will support local trade, create more jobs, and even bring in extra money for the government. He also said that it will help small vendors and new business owners who don’t have a shop or showroom yet. CTI wants them to get stalls at lower prices so they can take part and sell their products too.

According to ET, Minister Kapil Mishra supported the idea and asked CTI to submit a full plan linking fairs with specific festivals. He also gave certificates to influencers who promoted the recent Teej festival.
