Culprit spreading fake articles about me is from India, says Jaclyn Victor

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Jaclyn Victor believes that those spreading false information about her on social media are not from Malaysia.

Jaclyn, or Jaclyn Joshua Thanaraj Victor, 47, said that after investigating several fake news articles from different websites, it is believed to be the work of someone from India.

“Everyone who sent screenshots of the fake news found them on different websites. I tried to find these websites but they don’t exist.

“If it’s an advertisement, someone must have paid for it because ads aren’t free. After comparing all the information, it seems this is the work of someone from India,” she told mStar.

Jaclyn shared this information during the press conference for the launch of her latest album ‘Glorious’ in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday (Feb.

Jaclyn is currently in the process of gathering evidence before taking further action.

Even though the individual is abroad, Jaclyn will still file a police report and contact the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for further action.

“For now, I need to collect all the screenshots provided by the public. I have to print all those screenshots to use as evidence. I will file a police report and contact MCMC even though the individual is not in Malaysia,” she said.

Previously, Jaclyn expressed regret over her name being linked to criminal cases.

It was even more embarrassing when her face was edited onto a photo of a naked woman handcuffed by police.

In other developments, Jaclyn’s new album ‘Glorious’, featuring nine songs, was launched to celebrate her 20th anniversary as a singer.

The album includes seven Malay songs and two English tracks, including an English version of her iconic song ‘Gemilang’, specially for her fans.
