Russia- for long has been India’s withstanding partner since ages. The two established close relations during the Cold War Era despite India’s policy of non-alignment. The two nations have enjoyed close political, economic and defence ties over the period.

Business has been a common link between the two countries and has helped these ties reach a new level in recent times. The Maloos- Vinay and Vaibhav, who lead India’s one of the large multi conglomerates- the Enso Group have been the witness of this progressive growth.

The Enso Group run by The Maloos has shared close ties with Russia with many of its ventures being in partnership with Moscow-based enterprises. Enso Oils & Lubricants acts as an Indian partner for Gazprom Neft engine oils, the third largest oil producer in Russia. Enso’s Energy arm holds a stake in a major gas block in Siberia as well. Enso Healthcare LLP acts as an aggregator for manufacturing Sputnik V and Sputnik Light, Russian vaccines in India.

Enso Founder and Chairman, Vinay Maloo, recounted his early days in Russia and said he loved the diaspora and environment. “Russia is a great tourist destination, rich in culture and traditions. I love my visits to Moscow and find people very affectionate and loving towards Indians,” he said. He further opened up on how the partnership has grown strong over the years and the Russian Federation has been open for business at all times. Maloo had earlier called the partnership with Gazprom Neft as ‘historic’ and a ‘game changer’ for the oil and lubricants industry in South Asia. Maloo feels India-Russia share a very optimistic partnership and have an optimistic approach towards development.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pushed for ‘peace’ among the Russia-Ukraine War and conveyed his message to Russian President Vladimir Putin during his recent visit. With the war raging week after week, Enso’s Managing Director Vaibhav Maloo feels that the war should end soon. “I wish the ongoing Ukraine war ends and we can go about creating world peace’’, Vaibhav added. He said it is important for the war to end so that the current global scenario moves towards a positive outlook. He also hailed the Russian partnership and said ‘Russia’s always been a dear friend to India’.

With global calls for ending the war, the Maloos feel India can play a vital role through its diplomatic channels. Their love for Russia further vouches for the fact that India-Russia relations are vital for the business fraternity on both the sides.
