Anthony Lim will take over as DBS Chairman on 1 January 2027 as Peter Seah retires after 16 years.
Lim has served on the DBS boards since April 2020 and chairs the Compensation and Management Development Committee.
He helped oversee management succession planning in this role, including the bank’s CEO transition in March 2025.
Prior to retiring from executive roles in 2017, he held senior positions at GIC and Bankers Trust, with assignments in Singapore, London and New York.
Lim said,
“It is a matter of great pride that a homegrown bank has earned a place among the world’s best and most respected banks.
Building on the strong foundations laid by my predecessors, I look forward to working closely with the board and management to sustain DBS’ momentum and create long-term value for all our stakeholders.”
Seah will step down from the boards of DBS Group Holdings and DBS Bank on 31 December 2026 and serve as Senior Advisor for one year.
The bank’s income more than tripled and net profit increased more than fourfold during his tenure as Chairman, which began in 2010.
DBS’ market capitalisation also crossed S$200 billion in July 2026, making it Singapore’s largest listed company.
Seah said,
“When I became Chairman of DBS, the world was only just emerging from the global financial crisis.
Since then, through a close partnership between the board and management, and with Piyush Gupta at the helm for much of that journey, DBS has transformed into one of Asia’s leading financial services players, recognised globally for its innovation and performance.”
The board change follows the bank’s CEO transition in March 2025, when Tan Su Shan succeeded Piyush Gupta.
