DC hosts dinner for young Pakistani scientists
VEHARI – Deputy Commissioner Vehari Imrana Tauqeer hosted a graceful dinner reception in honour of the young Pakistani scientists who brought laurels to the nation with their outstanding performance at the International Young Naturalists Tournament – Science Innovation Competition held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. On this historic occasion, DC Imrana Tauqeer paid special tribute to her daughter Areeba Touqeer, a distinguished member of Team Pakistan Green, along with other achievers, praising their dedication, hard work, and scientific brilliance. She encouraged the students to continue their pursuit of excellence and to serve Pakistan with their talents, ensuring the country’s global recognition.
At the tournament, where students from 35 countries participated, Team Pakistan White, captained by Ashar Hassan, reached the final round and won the Silver Medal, while Team Pakistan Green, led by Amna Abid, impressed the judges and secured the Bronze Medal, placing third internationally.
The shining star of the event was Areeba Touqeer, whose remarkable performance, creativity, and commitment to science made her a source of pride not only for her family but also for Pakistan. Observers noted that her achievement reflects the values of discipline, leadership, and service instilled by her mother, DC Imrana Tauqeer.
Team Pakistan White included Ameen Adnan, Hajra Virk, Alisha Shehzad, Maheen Shehzad, and Laje Hafsa, while Team Pakistan Green comprised Areeba Touqeer, Tasmiya Abid, Dua Adil, Noor Fatima, and Amaan Hassan. Both teams participated under the platform of Pakistan Young Innovative Minds Society (PYIMS), dedicated to promoting scientific education and innovation. Their preparation was guided by Afrah Ali and Nehat Ali, whose mentorship played a crucial role in the success.
