Deepika DeeptiDeepika Deepti is stepping down as Head of Marketing at Bata India this month, ending a 19-month tenure at the heritage footwear brand. She joined in May 2024 to lead the company’s marketing strategy and brand positioning.
Deepika is known for bringing in and nurturing the Sneaker culture in India through her roles at Adidas and Camp SMA. Prior to Bata, Deepti spent eight months as Senior Vice President of Marketing at Metro Brands, joining in March 2023. Her career also includes stints as CEO at Bhaane and CEO and Chief Marketing Officer at Adidas and Camp SMA. She holds a degree from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) as per her LinkedIn profile.
At Bata India, Deepti was tasked with refreshing the brand’s appeal to younger consumers whilst retaining its traditional base—a challenging remit in a market where heritage brands face pressure from D2C players and international competitors.
Deepti’s track record shows frequent moves across fashion and footwear retail, with roles spanning brand strategy, digital marketing, and business operations. Her experience covers both Indian and international retail landscapes, though her tenures have typically been short.
Before Metro Brands, she led marketing and operations at Bhaane and Camp SMA, handling brand development and strategic planning. Her two decades in the industry have been focused primarily on the fashion and lifestyle segments.
Deepti’s next move hasn’t been announced. Given her background, she’s likely to remain within retail, fashion, or lifestyle brands.
