Delhi: Commercial LPG Cylinder Rates Cut from Today — What About Domestic? Check Rates | Delhi News

Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Cut by Rs 51.50, No Change in Domestic Rates

New Delhi: Starting today, eateries, hotels and small businesses across India will breathe a little easier in their kitchens. Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have reduced the price of the 19 kg commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder by Rs 51.50, effective Monday, 1 September. However, there is no change in domestic LPG rates, which remain unchanged since April.

What’s Cheaper Now

According to the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the revised prices of commercial LPG cylinders are as follows:

  • Delhi: Rs 1,580 (down from Rs 1,631.50)
  • Kolkata: Rs 1,684
  • Mumbai: Rs 1,531.50
  • Chennai: Rs 1,738

This reduction comes as welcome relief for small food vendors, restaurants and hotels that depend on these cylinders daily.

Domestic Prices Stay the Same

For households, the prices of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder remain unchanged since 8 April:

  • Delhi: Rs 853
  • Chennai: Rs 868.50
  • Kolkata: Rs 879
  • Mumbai: Rs 852.50

Why Prices Are Stable

In August, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri credited the government’s financial support for keeping LPG prices steady despite global market volatility. Earlier, on 8 August, the Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved a Rs 30,000 crore compensation package for oil companies. This amount, to be paid in twelve parts, has helped maintain stability in LPG pricing across the country.

A Small but Significant Relief

While households see no change, the price cut for commercial cylinders is expected to ease the burden on small businesses, particularly those in the food and hospitality sector, which often run on thin margins.
