In a video, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has declared a fifteen point action plan for the Union Territory of Delhi for dealing with pollution in the winter season.
The 15-Point plan includes PUSA made Parali (bio) Decomposer which will be distributed for free by the government over estimated 5000 acres so that farmers don’t burn their crop fields after harvest.
To deal with Air-pollution, the AAP government will run an Anti-dust campaign from 6 December. The Delhi government has formed 586 teams for implementing anti-dust measures at various construction sites. In addition, government will install hundreds of anti-smog guns, sprinklers and road-weeping machines.
The next measure is checking Vehicular Pollution by 380 teams to check vehicles older than ten years and check if vehicles are complaint with air-pollution parameters. It also includes decongestion measures.
CM Kejriwal also announced 611 teams for checking open disposal and burning of waste in the city. 33 Teams will also be formed for ensuring that industries use natural gas through pipelines instead of banned fuels. Similarly, cracking down on firecrackers, 210 teams will ensure that firecrackers are not sold or used in the city.
In a scientific measure, Kejriwal also announced formation of a supersite and a mobile ban under the Real-time Source Apportionment Study with the help of IIT-Kanpur. The data for the sources of pollution will be available by 20th October. The next step announced by the Delhi government is Paryavaran Mitra (Environment Friend) which is a voluntary step to spread awareness on environment. Government has announced the formation of 20-acres E-waste Park where hazardous wastes from electronic devices will be processed specifically.
The tenth step is the target of planting 9 lakh more trees to increase the green-cover in the city. The next step is the upgradation of a green room with 9 experts for evaluating the pollution and formulating steps for future.
CM also announced that the Green Delhi App has been a success and 90 percent of 53 thousand complaints have been remedied. CM also announced that 13 hotspots of pollution have been identified and they will be strictly monitored.
The fourteenth point relates to GRAP or Graded Responses Action Plan which will be followed as per air standard quality. The final point that Kejriwal said relates to cooperation with neighbouring states, and urging people to avoid diesel and other polluting entities. He said that cooperation with states was essential for dealing with pollution effectively.
