Delhi and its surrounding areas were lashed by heavy rain on Saturday, offering relief from the humidity but leaving several parts of the city waterlogged. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the national capital.
The downpour overnight brought large parts of the city to a standstill, disrupting traffic and affecting flight operations. Waterlogging was reported in several areas, including Panchkuian Marg, Mathura Road and Connaught Place.
In a statement, the Delhi Airport said that while “several flights reported delays,” operations were running normally. “As per the Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast, Delhi is experiencing inclement weather conditions. However, all flight operations at Delhi Airport are currently normal. Our on-ground teams are working diligently with all stakeholders to ensure your journey remains hassle-free,” it posted on X (formerly Twitter).
